Founded in 1983, Shanghai Far East Publishers (SFEP) of China is a publishing house characterized by its independent thinking and daring to break with convention. With the aim of bringing in overseas information and promoting Sino-foreign cultural interchange, SFEP gives equal stress to both soliciting original writings and translating foreign works. It now publishes books on social science/culture & art, economics/business, technology/life style, education/juvenile readings. SFEP's other publications are Shanghai Overseas Information (a triweekly newspaper), People (a monthly magazine).
SFEP is staffed by 80-plus marketing strategy, editorial and translation personnel, who hold intermediate or senior professional titles and who are versed in the English, French, German, Japanese or Russian language. With great enthusiasm, they have been actively seeking cooperation with potential partners at home and abroad for importation of first-class titles published by international publishers, and so far favourable cooperative relations have been estallished between SFEP and it famous counterparts from the U.S.A., U.K., Japan, Germany and Taiwan and Hong Kong regions.
